July 4 is celebrated as an Independence Day in United States. On July 4, 1776, US got independent from Britain and Democracy started. Apart from celebrating independence, 4of July is more about a chance for family and friends throughout the country to gather for barbecues and fireworks displays. This is the most important summer celebration when entire country has lots of fun. Christmas - festival of light and love

Christmas is a time for joy, for giving and sharing, for laughter, for coming together with family and friends, for tinsel and brightly decorated packages. But mostly, Christmas is for love. It was this love for which Jesus came to this world and sacrificed his life.

Thus Christmas is a celebration of love and mirth symbolized by the Nativity, the Santa, the caribou, the poinsettia and the evergreens. All that brings home the spirit of love, life and laughter. And this is the spirit that makes Christmas so popular throughout the world. Christmas is thought by most to be a wonderful time, focusing the participants on giving, family togetherness, beautiful music and decorations, feasting on special foods and singing.

Father Christmas- A true icon

Father Christmas also known as Santa Claus is the heart and soul of Christmas celebration. An old jolly man with white hair, a beard and a moustache, dressed in a red suit, bearing gifts. Prior to 1880 Santa was not dressed in red he evolved into the image we know today after being introduction by Coca Cola during the 1930s. He has become the human face of Christmas all around the world.

The Story of Father Christmas: Father Christmas was originally part of an old English midwinter festival, normally dressed in green, a sign of the returning spring. He was known as 'Sir Christmas', 'Old Father Christmas' or Old Winter'. In this earliest form, Father Christmas was not the bringer of gifts for small children, nor did he come down the chimney. He simply wandered around from home to home, knocking on doors and feasting with families before moving on to the next house.

Halloween is about to come. Halloween is a holiday of costumes, pumpkins, witches, ghosts, haunted houses and trick-or-treating. The word "Halloween" is derived from a few things; All Saints Day (1st November), Eve of All Hallows (All Hallows Eve).

The celebration of Halloween was originally the New Years Eve of the Celts, the eve of Samhain or "Winter's Eve". It was believed in ninth-century Europe that after you died, your soul remained in limbo. To send the souls up to Heaven the Christians used to go "souling". This is one custom which was thought that trick-or-treating originated from.
