The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the glaciers that makes up the "Los Glaciers" National Park with a dimension of 17.000 ha.
It is one of the most important drinkable water reserves in the world. The last rupture took place in March 2006. However due to global warming the glacier breaks earlier, it will be the first time it breaks in winter!
The glacier was first seen in 1879, but was not until 1899 that it was given its name "Perito Moreno". It was named in honor of the great argentine naturalist Francisco Pascasio Moreno.
I cannot believe what global warming is doing, slowly the things are getting worse, now it is causing things in nature to change its natural cycle. Who knows what this phenomena is going to lead to, l guess we just have to wait and see. I will keep you posted on when it breaks and the photos that follow!
