As a mother you probably worry about many things. Your breast milk supply lowering may be one of them. To figure out how to solve that problem veteran moms and experts were contacted. Here’s what they had to say.
Also remember that your body makes more breast milk the more your baby feeds. If your baby is extra hungry and fussing to feed often your body will make more milk for your baby. Still if you’re worried here’s some helpful tips.
Drink Plenty of Water
A veteran mom said that making sure you drink at least 64 ounces of water a day. This might be the cure all to your supply problem. She also recommends drinking water during feedings or pumping. This will hopefully help increase your supply and improve you skin and overall health.
Pumping and Nursing More often
A breast-feeding consultant said to try and increase the number of times you feed and pump a day. Since the more your baby demands the milk the more your body will supply, extra pumping and nursing will “trick” your body into making more milk. She even suggested pumping on one side while your baby feeds on the other.
Have a Healthy Diet
Obviously most moms know that it’s important to eat healthy because your baby takes in what you do. Avoid sweets and treats and make sure you’re eating enough protein, dairy, and grains. Many mommies have said that oatmeal has helped them increase their milk supply.
Seek Professional Advice
At the end of the day no body will be able to assist you better than a physician or expert. If you are truly worried about your breast milk supply make an appointment to speak with someone and see how he or she can help you.
