Swine Flu Updates
Pump it0 Dump it0      Posted on: 27-Jun-2009

We all know about Swine Flu it has grabbed the entire worlds attention. The World Health Organization (WHO) officials have already declared the new virus strain a worldwide epidemic due to its rapid spread through everyday human-to-human contact.

  1. swine fluSwine Flu started in April 2009 in United States and Mexico and slowly it has reached in most of the parts of world.
  2. End of April, seven countries have officially reported cases of swine influenza A/H1N1 infection. Canada, United States, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Israel and Spain reported the cases of Swine Flu.
  3. By May 09' virus also infected people in Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland. With time more than 70 countries are now reporting cases of human infection with novel H1N1 flu.
  4. Over 5000 cases of Swine Flu in the entire world. And according to WHO, 238 deaths has been confirmed with the maximum no of deaths is in United States of America and Mexico.

The World Health Organization declared the sixth stage of the transition mainly due to a rise in the "number of" cases in Australia, and not the result of the increase in "severe" or "seriousness" of the virus.

swine flu toll

WHO suggested there is also no risk of infection from this virus from consumption of well-cooked pork and pork products. Individuals are advised to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water on a regular basis and should seek medical attention if they develop any symptoms of influenza-like illness. Individuals who are ill should delay travel plans and returning travelers who fall ill should seek appropriate medical care. These recommendations are prudent measures which can limit the spread of many communicable diseases, including influenza.

In the United States, most people who have become ill with the newly declared pandemic virus have recovered without requiring medical treatment, however, CDC anticipates that there will be more cases, more hospitalizations and more deaths associated with this pandemic in the coming days and weeks. Vaccines are a very important part of a response to pandemic influenza and the U.S. Government is aggressively taking early steps in the process to manufacture a novel H1N1 vaccine.

Motion Sickness
Pump it0 Dump it0      Posted on: 28-May-2009

The brain gets an instant report from your ears, eyes, skin and muscles and tries to put together a total picture about what you are doing just at that moment. But if any of the pieces of this picture don't match, you can get motion sickness. Motion sickness is often attributed to lack of synchronicity between what the eyes see and what the ears hear. For e.g.: During driving your eyes and ears are working cooperatively, or sitting in the front seat where you can watch the road. Motion sickness occurs when the body is subjected to accelerations of movement in different directions. In motion sickness the sense of balance and equilibrium is affected.

Get your kids to exercise
Pump it1 Dump it0      Posted on: 06-Apr-2009

In the era of Internet, television and video games, it's really difficult to convince kids do exercise. Nowadays children have so many fun and interesting things to do indoors, that they are hardly ready to go out and workout. Exercise is extremely important as a child grows into an adult. The less exercise your child experiences, the less likely they will exercise when they get older. By following some tips you can motivate your children and get them moving!

kids and exercise
  • You need to set the rules in advance. Make a deal with them: for every half hour they surf the web or watch TV, they have to do half an hour of something physical. Physical doesn't have to be exercise per se. Your child can add physical activity throughout the day in a number of ways.
