Cranberry Scones...too tasty
Pump it0 Dump it0      Posted on: 09-Dec-2009

They are many scone's recipes but this one is very light, almost bread -like texture. You could use dried cranberries, but fresh have much better flavour. Enjoy them with cream and either jam or lemon curd.

Cartellate- Honey Pinwheels
Pump it0 Dump it0      Posted on: 16-Sep-2009

Cartellate are crisp pastry spirals that are drizzled with honey. They are sometimes called the "dahlias of Saint Nicholas" because of their color and shape and also their association with the nuns of the hospice for pilgrims of Saint Nicholas of Bari. At one time honey was expensive and not always available, so cooks used a syrup made from figs to drizzle over the cartellate. Alternatively, the pastries were drizzled with mostocotto (grape must or juice) cooked down to a thick, sweet syrup. Our recipe calls for honey, but if you would like a truly traditional version of cartellate try them with the fig syrup or mosto cotto.

The dish was created in 1951 by Paul Blangé at the Brennan's Restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana. It named after Richard Foster, a friend of Owen Brennan's who was then New Orleans Crime Commission chairman. It is still served at a number of fine restaurants in New Orleans as well as in several restaurants around the world.

Papaya Pie
Pump it1 Dump it0      Posted on: 25-Jun-2009

Papaya originated in Mexico, Central and northern South, but now is cultivated in most countries with tropical climate. Ripe papayas are rich in vitamins and also aid digestion. Eating them is especially helpful for weak or old people who complain of upset stomach when they eat meat, chicken, or eggs. Papaya makes these foods easier to digest. If you like peach or apricot pie, try this easy papaya pie for a touch of the tropics.. Using a pre-made graham cracker pie crust makes this a quick and easy dessert, but do allow for cooling time before serving.

Step-by-step chocolate cake
Pump it0 Dump it0      Posted on: 12-Jun-2009
If you follow this step by step chocolate cake you are going to reach a wonderful result. It is important to cool the warm chocolate mixture before adding the remaining dry ingredients and egg. Adding egg to a hot mixture can cook it before it has been mixed through - the result is a cake containing scrambled eggs!

Step-by-step chocolate cake

It is best to use a bamboo skewer to check if a cake is ready - the mixture will easily stick to the bamboo if the cake is not yet cooked, or slip off if ready. This cake is best left in its pan to cool before turning on to a rack. Densely textured cakes, such as this, are more delicate when hot and can easily split if turned out too early. Make sure the cake is completely cooled before splitting.

Very tasty tocinillo de cielo dessert
Pump it0 Dump it1      Posted on: 11-Jun-2009

Tocinillo de cielo (Heaven's little pig) is one of the most surprising desserts of the Spanish gastronomy. We could compare it, in sweet version, with the potato tortilla. From ingredients of common use (eggs, water, sugar) and using a technique of not at all particular elaboration, we get incredible results with little effort! Created in the early years of the last century, when wineries from Jerez de la Frontera donated the leftover egg yolks of the clarification (the egg whites are used to clarify the wine) to the nuns. These, with divine success, mixed them with syrup and they treated to the bath Maria, thus was born tocinillo de cielo... God blesses them!
