Pump it0 Dump it0      Posted on: 26-Oct-2009

After marriage one big reason of conflict between husband and wife is money. Initially it's really very awkward to discuss about finances with your partner. Both of you should frankly discuss and plan your expenditure and savings. Let's check out how you can do it without any conflict.

How to discuss Financial matters with your partner

Tips to communicate regarding money with your spouse:

  • Be prepared before speaking; be clear what you expect out of him. Discuss your financial hopes, financial dreams and financial fears with your spouse. Review all expenditures, line by line, and calmly talk in detail about why the purchase was made. Discuss in details, like small fees, extra charges and additional costs. Compare online banking information with paper statements.
  • Honesty and respect is very important in any relationship. Same goes when you are discussing money. Make every effort to communicate with your spouse in a respectful manner. In case you have doubts regarding some of his expenditure or investment plans, clear them with your partner. More open your discussion, more comfortable both of you will be.

In this difficult economic scenario, layoff has become very common situation of most of our life and this gives us depression. But everyone going through this situation should face it strongly with a belief that every problem has a solution.

How to deal with Layoff

Immediate action:

  • Go to the unemployment office of your state and check with them in case you qualify for unemployment insurance. If yes, apply immediately. You'll be surprised at the resources they have to offer, from health insurance information to budget tips, writing a resume, going to college or trade school.
  • Economize your budget: Cut down your expenses and don't spend money on less important stuffs. Your priorities should be shelter, utilities, food and transportation.
  • If you have children in college or in a private school, contact the financial aid office and inform them of your layoff. They may provide emergency financial aid so that your child's education will not have to suffer.
  • Handle Health: You usually get 60 days to decide whether to sign on to your former employer's health plan through a legal process called COBRA or find other insurance options. So you must decide this at the earliest.
