    valentines day gifts for boyfriend

Shopping for my boyfriend is really difficult. He is a no nonsense kind of guy. He HATES shopping, thinks fashion is stupid (his words, not mine), and tries very hard to posses as few material objects as possible. He’s also frugal to a fault, but I love him.

So this guide is for girls who have trouble shopping for their boyfriends.

    1. Gift card to a used bookstore
Most cities have really awesome used bookstores. The appeal of used bookstores is that you’re not giving money to the conglomerates and your boy can find some rare, out of print books. I have a few in different cities that I’ve picked out for you.

    1564 N Milwaukee Ave
    Chicago, IL 60622

My brother took me here once and it was amazing! A labyrinth of book shelves. My brother and I both found some unique books and with the low prices we were able to get more than one.

    1716 West Sunset Blvd
    Los Angeles, CA

Stories offers new and used books that are chosen based on their worth. So even the new books in Stories are somewhat rare. They also offer fair trade coffee and local goodies from all over Los Angeles.

    2. Food
This is as simple as it can get. Cook or bake him something. If you’re convinced that you can’t cook then take him to his favorite restaurant.

    3. Booze
Buy him his favorite beer, wine, or spirit. Some people might suggest buying him a beer making kit but those beers always end up tasting like crap. A really cool idea would be to take him to a local brewery on their tasting night and you guys can taste beers together. This is a great way to have fun together and support your local economy.

    1800 North Clybourn
    Chicago, IL 60614

They have multiple locations and delicious beers. They host an event called Beer Academy. At this event you learn about a specific genre of beer and do some tasting. At Beer Academy not all the beers are from Goose Island so you’ll be introduced to some new craft breweries.

    4. Sports
My boyfriend constantly has ESPN on (shoot me). A great idea would be tickets to a game of a gift card to sporting goods store.

    5. Music
My boyfriend is a huge music head. We go to shows all the time. You could get your
Boyfriend tickets to a live show or get him a gift certificate to a used record store.
Most stores sell CD’s too so don’t worry.

This is great place to check out new music and grab a beer. The tickets are cheap but buy in advance. The space is small and popular so shows sell out fast.

I hope this guide helps. If you have any other ideas of how to shop for a difficult man share them in the comments.
