It’s your first date and both of you are nervous. Truth is, he’s probably more nervous than you. But here are five ideas that you should be aware of or careful of when going on your first date.
Be Attentive
What do I mean? Put the mobile phone away. Make him feel important and show him some type of interest. It’s really annoying when you’re constantly on your phone. Even if you’re having a better time chatting on Facebook or texting than you’re having on the date.
Good Conversation
This is quite similar to being attentive but involves getting to know him. See what he likes. See if you have the same interest. Hopefully the conversation isn’t one-sided or dominated by one person’s boring stories. If you both have nothing in common, try breaking the silence with stories about scars. They’re always fun stories to hear.
Going Dutch
I know ladies; you don’t want to date a cheap man. But going Dutch can lesson the stress of the date. The guy may find it reassuring that you’re willing to pay for the movie while he pays for everything else. This may show that you actually care about him. Though he may insist that he pays for everything, your financial input into the date becomes a blessing for him.
Chivalry Isn’t Dead
Contrary to popular belief, there are still gentlemen in this world. Hopefully the guy you’re with still does things like opens doors for you, puts his jacket over your shoulders when you’re cold, or even walks on the curbside of the street. It’s the little things that count. If you notice your guy being chivalrous, acknowlege his efforts with some appreciation.
Thank You
Please, thank him for the date. Even if it was a bad date, a simple thank you goes a long way. Key point: smile when you thank him.
