Turkish coffee


Turkish coffee is a very flavorful, and often strong, coffee. It is prepared in a small pot that holds either one or two servings. Traditionally, the pot was placed in the hot sands of the Mediterranean for cooking, now we use a gas stove.

Ingredients

  • 1L (4 cups) water
  • 60g (1/4 cup) white sugar
  • 45g (1/3 cup) Turkish-style coffee

Method

  1. Place water, sugar and coffee in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 3-4 minutes or until coffee simmers and froth forms on the surface.
  2. Pour coffee into small cups and serve immediately with the baklava.
  3. Make coffee just before serving dessert. Turkish-style coffee is available from many supermarkets   and specialty grocers.
