Turkish coffee is a very flavorful, and often strong, coffee. It is prepared in a small pot that holds either one or two servings. Traditionally, the pot was placed in the hot sands of the Mediterranean for cooking, now we use a gas stove.
Ingredients
- 1L (4 cups) water
- 60g (1/4 cup) white sugar
- 45g (1/3 cup) Turkish-style coffee
Method
- Place water, sugar and coffee in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 3-4 minutes or until coffee simmers and froth forms on the surface.
- Pour coffee into small cups and serve immediately with the baklava.
- Make coffee just before serving dessert. Turkish-style coffee is available from many supermarkets and specialty grocers.
