MMM, Tasty Fried Wonton


This fried wonton recipe uses shiso leaves and cheese as the filling, it's so easy. Shiso is an asian vegetable, the leaves which are rich in calcium and iron are used for seasoning, coloring, pickling and garnishing. They can also be used whole or cut into strips.Shiso seeds form an essential part of the famous seven spices of Japan, which originated more than 300 years ago in Kyoto.

Ingredients

  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • 20 small cubes cheese
  • 8 shiso leaves
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Method

  1. Cut shiso leaves in halves. Place a piece of shiso and a cube of cheese in the center of a wonton wrapper.
  2. Fold the wonton wrapper in half diagonally, shaping into a triangle. Seal the edge well.
  3. Heat oil to 375 degrees F and deep-fry the wonton until brown.
