Cacao has been cultivated in Central America and Mexico from many years. It is documented to be used around 1100 BC. The Mayas and the Aztecs made a beverage known as "xocolatl" meaning "bitter water". The seeds of the cacao tree have a bitter taste and must be fermented to develop its flavor.Chocolate has become one of the biggest flavor of the world, and gifts of chocolate are always welcome all over the countries. So why not make these delicious Florentine biscuits and take as treat for any party!
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon whipping cream
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar -- packed
- 1/4 cup sifted flour
- 1/4 cup whipping cream, 3/4 cup finely chopped almonds
- 4 ounces semisweet chocolate
- 3 tablespoons butter
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 F degrees. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in flour alternately with cream, then mix in almonds.
- Drop teaspoons of batter 3-inches apart on greased and floured baking sheets.
- With a knife dipped in cold water, spread the batter into 2-inch rounds.
- Bake for 12 minutes. Cool slightly on baking sheets then transfer to wire racks.
- Melt chocolate with butter and cool slightly. Spread over bottoms of cookies.
