Halloween is just a few days away and kids are so excited for the celebration. It's fun for children but at the same time it can be scary too. So taking safety measures is very important for parents. Here are 5 tips to stay safe this Halloween for everyone.

Road safety: During Halloween, pedestrian traffic increases so every one of us needs to be more aware on the road. Parents should talk to their children about road safety and keep an eye when kids are on roads. Halloween weather is mostly snowy or rainy that creates poor visibility and thousands of kids in every sort of outfit, including many dressed in black, create a definite probable for injury. So be safe!

Avoid candies from strangers: Wrapped gifted candies should first be inspected by elders before giving it to kids. Even adults are so busy in enjoying drinks that they ignore who is pouring. Never leave your drink unattended.

Firework: Halloween is all about light and crackers. However you must have a permit to use them. Fireworks should always be discharged responsibly in open areas.

Protect your pets: Halloween is fun for you but don't forget it can be a scary and dangerous time for both pets and farm animals. Loud noises, regular door-knocking and fireworks outside may spook pets, force them to dart into traffic or even jump through windows. Don't dress them heavily; they can be uncomfortable in the same. The most important keep candies away from your pets.

Keep your eyes open, little extra common sense, preventable measures can help everyone to have fun, faux scary Halloween, not a truly horrifying one.

Have a Happy and safe Halloween!

    Preparation before you leave:

    1. Choose a non peak travel schedule if possible, as your child will be stress free in less crowd and so will you.
    2. Try to take flight according to child's eating and sleeping schedule. It's a good idea to keep their schedule as normal as possible when flying.
    3. If your child is used to of some comfort item like special blanket or any toy. Try to carry them along with you.
    4. Pack your bag with lots of snacks and drinks for your baby. You never know flight can get delayed too.
    5. Carry lots of activities that you baby love to play with. May be a video game or a music player. Children get bored very soon while sitting so you must have some interesting things to entertain them.
    6. Before travelling do speak to your child. Try and explain them about the airport rules. Teach them how to behave during the security check and baggage screening. I know they are too small to understand all these technicalities but children learn very fast.

Children love to play in water. Summer is synonymous with water play but unfortunately that can spell disaster. As a parent you need to protect your child and take the possible safety measures. Be your children's lifeguard! Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death among children ages 14 and under, with children under age 5 at the highest risk. Many drownings and near drownings occur when children are left unattended by a pool, pond or in the bath.

Precautions that you can take to protect your children:

    • Stay within arms' reach of children - don't leave children unsupervised as drownings can occur in as little as 10 seconds.
    • Enroll your children in swimming and water safety courses.
    • Make sure children are wearing an approved life jacket or personal flotation device when playing near water.
    • Infants who cannot sit unsupported and are too young to wear a personal flotation device should be held by an adult at all times.
    • Inform your child of the methods to obtain help.
