We all know about Swine Flu it has grabbed the entire worlds attention. The World Health Organization (WHO) officials have already declared the new virus strain a worldwide epidemic due to its rapid spread through everyday human-to-human contact.

  1. swine fluSwine Flu started in April 2009 in United States and Mexico and slowly it has reached in most of the parts of world.
  2. End of April, seven countries have officially reported cases of swine influenza A/H1N1 infection. Canada, United States, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Israel and Spain reported the cases of Swine Flu.
  3. By May 09' virus also infected people in Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland. With time more than 70 countries are now reporting cases of human infection with novel H1N1 flu.
  4. Over 5000 cases of Swine Flu in the entire world. And according to WHO, 238 deaths has been confirmed with the maximum no of deaths is in United States of America and Mexico.

The World Health Organization declared the sixth stage of the transition mainly due to a rise in the "number of" cases in Australia, and not the result of the increase in "severe" or "seriousness" of the virus.

WHO suggested there is also no risk of infection from this virus from consumption of well-cooked pork and pork products. Individuals are advised to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water on a regular basis and should seek medical attention if they develop any symptoms of influenza-like illness. Individuals who are ill should delay travel plans and returning travelers who fall ill should seek appropriate medical care. These recommendations are prudent measures which can limit the spread of many communicable diseases, including influenza.

In the United States, most people who have become ill with the newly declared pandemic virus have recovered without requiring medical treatment, however, CDC anticipates that there will be more cases, more hospitalizations and more deaths associated with this pandemic in the coming days and weeks. Vaccines are a very important part of a response to pandemic influenza and the U.S. Government is aggressively taking early steps in the process to manufacture a novel H1N1 vaccine.

Pump it0 Dump it0      Posted on: 04-Mar-2009

A sore throat - known medically as pharyngitis - is most often caused by a viral infection such as a cold or the flu (influenza). In many cases, a sore throat is the first sign that you're getting sick. In most cases, a sore throat is caused by a virus that soon goes away on its own. A sore throat is rarely caused by a bacterial infection that requires medical care or treatment with antibiotics.

sore throatCauses:

  • Common viruses.
  • Breathing through the mouth can produce throat dryness and soreness.
  • Post nasal drip may cause a sore throat.
  • A sore throat can also be caused by bacteria.

Any sore throat that causes you to have difficulty swallowing (not just pain with swallowing) or breathing should be seen by a health care professional.

Complications: Strep throat, a bacterial infection, can trigger other conditions that include:

  • Tonsillitis
  • Sinus infection (sinusitis)
  • Ear infection
  • Scarlet fever, an illness characterized by a rash
  • Inflammation of the kidney.
  • Rheumatic fever, which can damage organs such as the heart
