Actor Morgan Freeman was hospitalized in a serious condition after the car he was driving left a rural road in the Mississippi Delta and flipped several times, as mentioned by startribune.com
Freeman, 71, was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. The actor "has a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage, but is in good spirits," his publicist said. "He is having a little bit of surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to help correct the damage," she said. "He says he'll be OK and is looking forward to a full recovery."
It has been said that Morgan and Demaris Meyer, were traveling on Hwy. 32 when the car, ran off the road just before midnight Sunday. The vehicle flipped a number of times but landed upright in a ditch about 5 miles west of Charleston, not far from where Freeman and his wife live. A State Patrol spokesman said rescuers had to use the Jaws of Life to remove Morgan from the car. He said there was no evidence of alcohol or drug use.
Morgan has won an Oscar for his role in "Million Dollar Baby," and now appears in "The Dark Knight." Our best wishes are with him and to a speedy recovery!
