Normally when we think about losing weight, first thing that comes in our mind is dieting and cutting calories. If you are strictly following diet plan and focused to lose weight, you can control the temptation of yummy meals but fasting is a big No No! Fitness experts have confirmed the concept of snacking on foods at regular intervals throughout the day. This means you could actually loose weight by snacking - eating at regular interval.

    Why snacks?

To lose extra pounds you need to increase metabolism and starving doesn't help. During dieting your body feels the lack of food, it tends to store fat after every single meal, thus reducing your metabolic rate. For instance, if you have your breakfast at 8 am and lunch at 1 pm, your body gets a signal that there is a long gap between meals and takes the scenario as emergency and thus tend to store a certain amount of fat. Eating light after short time intervals will help you burn more calories per hour than you would if you eat after long hours. This also keeps your digestive system working and increases your metabolic rate. Trainers suggest 5-6 small meals, distributed through the day, as an ideal way to boost metabolism.

    Right snack:

    • Nuts are a great option as they keep you feeling full for a longer time
    • Fruits and vegetable
    • Soups
    • Wheat bread
    • Yogurt
    • Negative calories food- apple, beet, carrot, berries, cucumber and cabbage

    Snacks prevent overeating:

Eating snacks between two big meals helps you to stop and prevent yourself from overeating. When you plan for a dinner with your friends, chances are more to eat more calories. So if you have a small meal in the evening say around 2-3 hours before your dinner, you won't feel hungry during the dinner thus consume less calories and fat. That's why experts recommend drinking sufficient amount of water around 30 minutes before a big meal.

It's really difficult to control your temptation for rich, yum meals but once you start seeing the results, every temptation will vanish.
