Keep yourself in shape this festive season


It's festive time all around and it's time to party. This is the time when you need to work little hard to keep yourself in shape so that you look gorgeous and wins everyone's appreciation. Just follow some of these simple exercises on daily basis and you will simply love your figure.

  • Rotator Cuff Strengthener: You can do this exercise either seated or standing. Hold the elbows close to the waist with palms facing the sky holding a Theraband. Pulling the hands away from each other externally rotating the shoulders. For this workout you will need a light Theraband. You can do these exercises on the go, at the park or when you have a few moments to spare.
  • For That Flat Stomach: Crunches are a great way to keep your stomach toned. To get the most benefit from stomach crunches, lie straight on the floor, bend your legs and keep your feet flat. You should then put your hands behind your head and curl upwards from your shoulders using only your stomach muscles. Keep your abs tightened, and slowly release them to roll your body flat back to the floor.

  • Tricep push-up extension: Hands are directly under your shoulders and knees are on the ground in a modified push-up. The pelvis is slightly pressed forward creating work in the abdominals that stabilize the spine. Place the Theraband under the right hand on the floor and extend opposite arm in a tricep extension. While extending the working arm, be careful to keep the wrist in line with the hand not to create any unwanted tension/strain.

  • Thighs and Butt: Wall squats will help tone your behind as well as your upper leg muscles. To do this effectively, stand around eighteen inches from a strong wall with your feet shoulder-width apart. Then lean back until your back is against the wall and slide down until you reach a sitting position. You should hold this for as long as possible - aim for a minimum of thirty seconds. Keeping your abdomen tight during the exercise will result in even more benefits.
  • Spine extension with pulses: Seated upright with legs in front of body, shoulder-width apart, hands over head. Hinge forward from the hips leading with the sternum, biceps are by your ears. Hold this position and slightly pulse the arms behind the body mobilizing the shoulders and working the upper back. Return back to an upright position to repeat the movement again.
  • Butterfly ab curls: Lying on the floor with heels of feet together and knees bent to the side in a frog-like position. Arms are straight over head, circle arms around and lift the head/neck/shoulders off the floor, exhaling, pulling in the abs hold for 5 seconds and return back to starting position.
  • Burn off at the beach: The beach can be a great way of burning fat and building stamina. Jogging on loose sand and exercising in the ocean increase resistance against your body and also improve the cardio aspect of your exercise. Swimming is also beneficial as it has a low impact effect on the body. So it's a win-win!

Apart from exercises you can also make some regular habit that can help!

  • Take the stairs instead of the elevators. Climb a little faster.
  • Park your car few blacks farther away. Walk this extra distance to work, to friend's home or when on shopping.
  • Take a walk before lunch.
  • Do not sit at a place for long hours.
  • Wash and iron your clothes.
  • Mow the lawn. If you have power mover change it for a push model.
  • Gardening is a very good exercise. Digging, weeding, raking, cutting and hauling all build stamina..
  • Roller skating, jump rope are very good exercise. Swim or a bike ride or a row boat outing on a lake.
