Those who are fond of wine, it is the most delicious, most varied and most complex drink on the planet. Can you believe that the process of wine is so incredible, as it is the fermented juice of a single fruit, the grape, which can then offer us so many different varieties. For centuries Wine has been made for centuries from just a two simple ingredients: yeast and grape juice. Any fruit juice can be used, but commonly all wine is made from the juice of the grape.

Grapes are usually the best ingredients used in the preparation of wine. There is an equal proportion of sugar and acid in them, which cannot be found in any other fruit. High temperature heat is required to dry away the grapes.

Three main categories in wine; Fortified wine, It is known as a fortified wine when a little brandy is added to enrich the alcoholic content. Sparkling wine, It is termed as still or sparkling depending upon the carbon dioxide quantity. And lastly, Table wine, Table wine is available in a very natural form and is not like the other wine. You, or should l say we can buy white or red wine.

    Manufacturing process of wine:

Yeast is the magical ingredient that turns grape juice into wine. yeast is a living organism that feeds off of sugars in the grape juice in a process called fermentation.

    1. Initial stage of processing: the grapes or any other fruit of your choice are crushed using a large cylindrical container that inflates the juicy part of the grapes in the large bags that are attached. They are then fermented by heating the juicy part. In the process of heating the yeast that is present helps converting the sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide. Sometimes this solution requires fermentation for the second time due to malic acid present. When the malic acid breaks downs into lactic acid and carbon dioxide, it adds a new buttery flavor to the wine.
    2. Settling: Settling involves the yeast cells or any other type of material flowing near the top of the wine. Once it is at the top, it is then filtered with all sediments being gathered on the filter.
    3. Aging: Wine is tightly packed away in special contains that won't allow any contact with air for months - sometimes even years.
    4. Once the wine has been aged, it is transferred into smaller bottlers then shipped out and sold. Colored bottles are preferred, as they will greatly reduce the risk of oxidation, damage, and several other possible risks.

    Important Points to care:

    • You must have a thorough knowledge regarding the exact harvesting season. If the harvesting is delayed you may not be able to produce a good quality wine because the level of sugar increases and the acidic extent gets too low.
    • Never store the wine in an area where the temperature fluctuates, as it can harm the wine.
    • It should be stored in a cellar at a temperature of about 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Humidity about 60 % is necessary to keep the cork moist. Low temperatures will slow the process.
    • Wine should be kept away from external sources like light, vibration and strong odors, which are obviously the barriers to the formation of a good quality wine.
    colors of wine

What is responsible for the Color of wine: The wine exhibits a reddish color when the seeds and the skin of the grapes are present during the fermentation process. When it is fermented without any quantity of non-juicy parts they turn pinkish. You can actually make white wine from black grapes by not letting the skins stay in contact with the juice. Champagne is one of the most famous examples.

What effects the taste of the wine:

    1. Each grape variety will produce different flavors, aromas, and even textures.
    2. The soil and climate where the grapes are grown drastically affect the taste as well.
    3. Fermenting or storing in oak barrels will also affect the taste.

Things can be controlled by the technique, temperature and yeast used during fermentation as well. After knowing these facts wine lovers will enjoy their drink more and one who have never tasted will surely try once.  But remember only in moderation and keep away from it when pregnant and while breastfeeding.
