Yes, for the relief of stress, pain, or breathing problems, there’s nothing better than
aromatherapy.
But what exactly is aromatherapy, you might ask? Well, in aromatherapy essential oils which are extracted from all-natural sources, such as flowers, leaves, roots, bark and wood, are used as they are or made into soaps, perfumes, skin and hair-care products, sprays, lamp diffusers, and so on.
Although there is no absolute proof from medical research that these oils have the power to cure various ailments, it has been found that their use in treating muscular pains, bruises, tension, and many other symptoms have brought good results. Also, it’s suitable for all age groups and has no side-effects.
Just add five to ten drops of aromatic oil to the warm water in your bathtub, soak yourself in it and inhale deeply. Keep doing this for fifteen minutes or so and you’ll find any lingering stress or stiffness or headaches fading away.
Or you could put a few drops of the oil on a handkerchief or some tissue, sniff it on a regular basis or leave beside your pillow when you go to bed. Another method is to put a few drops in a cup of hot water and put in at a convenient level, such as on a table, then cover your head and the cup with a towel and breathe the aroma in. Or for bruises, burns, pains in the legs, for example, soak a bandage in a solution of water and oils, then wrap it around the affected part for an hour or so, adding a few drops of oil to the bandage now and again.
Different oils can be mixed and used together. But before using any directly, test for allergies by putting a little on any sensitive area of the skin.
