    take my picture

The culmination of Fashion week came to an end in Paris a few weeks ago but I’m still left with so much buzzing in my head. A recent short documentary called Take My Picture has kept the buzzing alive.

High Fashion use to be this elusive creature that only few were part of but now in my generation of constant spotlight, fashion is for all. The Street Style people have seem to taken over the fashion world and perhaps are a force to reckoned with, at least if you’re trying to get to a show on time.

Street style is a whole different beast than the tents. Anyone can be a street style blogger, photographer, or aficionado. The obsession to have your outfit photographed and then written about is a whole new industry. There are certain people and blogs that do it very well like Bill Cunningham, Scott Schuman of The Satorialist, Susanna Lau of Style Bubble and Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast. These people have excellent style and are incredible at what they do. Now though street style has taken oven the streets of Fashion Week and become a deluge of dizzy clicking of both heels and cameras. Some of the dizziness is not so good.

I think more than ever now with platforms like Facebook and Twitter, Fashion, which for so long was only for a few, is now a democracy. We are in a depression and street style makes fashion cheaper and accessible to all. So my final question is should fashion be for all? Will Street Styles take my precious world and turn into some ugly and adulterated like “reality TV”?

Anyways this film Take My Picture is insightful and touches on all these themes I’m speaking of so click here and muse over it.

    diy polka dot jeans

    by Giselle Bello

Jeans and cut offs with polka dots have been “spotted” all over fashion blogs and fashionable ladies. Want to get in on the fun? Here’s a great DIY project you can get into this weekend. Grab a pair of jeans or cut-offs and get ready for spring!

    Supplies
    • Pair of cut offs or jeans
    • Acrylic paint (we like light grey, since off-white looks dirty and bright white looks too “new”)
    • Rule
    • Wood skewer (or pencil eraser for smaller dots)

    Instructions
    • Place your article of clothing on a flat surface. You will be doing one side and one leg at a time, working section by section so the paint can dry as you work.
    • Decide how much space you want between dots. Roughly 1 inch works well. Stagger your dots so that the alternating row’s dots go between the dots in the previous row
    • Start at the bottom and work your way up, using a ruler to get an even row
    • Use the end of the skewer dipped in paint. It’s ok (and looks better even!) if there’s a variety of opacity with your dots.
    • You’ll probably have to give the ruler up and free hand once you get toward the inside of the leg and the pockets, which is totally fine
    • If you mess up, wipe it up quick with a wet cloth
    • Work your way up to the top. You can choose whether or not you want to polka dot the top band.

Stylish, beautiful and extremely functional, can also be expanded to fit as much as you need. Each side has a snap that can be opened and it also has one front pocket for quick access without the need to open the entire bag. What all you want to carry in your bag? Your entire world, right? So Gigi Hill bags offers you a design which has a number of pockets and the best part some pouches are transparent so you can easily find what you need without wasting any time.

I always tend to misplace my keys, do you? Here is the solution, Gigi Hill has a key holder which helps you to keep your keys organized and can be easily found even in hurry.

Also, the inside has a nice quote; mine says "a great bag is a woman's treasured secret place".

When you are going for a trendy party, soft, micro suede print outside is the best fit. The inside canvas is a flowery design which are just gorgeous. The straps are of the appropriate thickness so that when you put the bag on your shoulder it feels right.

Alexa Chung is an it-girl if there ever was one. And it's not because she’s the slutty daughter of some billionaire - Chung is one of contemporary fashion’s top icons and influences.

She was named one of the most stylist women in the world by Vogue, and always has a front row seat at the most searing-hot fashion shows. She was even the muse for the Mulberry Alexa bag, which became a sensation and has become an instant classic, selling thousands across the globe.

This model and fashionista-extraordinaire was spotted at the British Fashion Awards, smiling with her award and rocking the hottest new trend for nails this season: leather, baby!

Story has it that Nail Inc presented the must-have polish to Chung and others as a part of a press package for their Spring Summer Press Showcase and later Chung went on to Tweet about her new obsession. The black polish goes on glossy but dries with a matte, leathery texture. Paired with the included bling-tastic skull decal, any outfit can have a rocker chic punch that Chung seems to adore.

Want to try this haute new item? Get in line. The product doesn’t even hit stores until December 13th, and already the site has a waiting list of 870 people! Reps from the brand have said that the item has caused a social media frenzy, and top fashion bloggers have gotten tsunamis of hits after gushing about the product.

I love the idea of matte black nails but it’s hard to see up close how the polish achieves this so-called leather texture. But if Alexa loves it, that should be good enough for all of us, right? As she said herself: #kinky
