Are you looking for a fun, easy to pull off look?  Here are some of the hair, nail, and makeup trends for spring.  Try these amazingly simple trends today!

    Give your lips a pop
Brights like fuchsia or tangerine are all the rage now.  How about wearing both together?  First apply the pink, and the tap some orange on the center to rock a two-tone look.

    Bright Hair
Bright streaks offer awesome commitment free fun.  Temporary color comes in the form of hair chalk, hair spray, and even hair paint.  You can use just one shade, or play around with your inner artist and wear several at the same time.

    Blue Lids
Tons of shades of blue were all over the runway for this spring.  Although Dusk Blue was officially named one of the Pantone top-10 spring colors, other favorites include midnight smoke or ombre lids in peacock blue.

    Flawless face
Add a highlighter streak to the ridge of your cheekbones to give the illusion of higher bone structure as well as gorgeous glow to your skin.  For fair complexions use a pearly white pigment, and for everyone else a peachy bronze will work well.

    Crimped Hair
Yes, you read that right, but with some important differences from our ‘80s days.  Now the style brings in small teeny crimps (achievable with a microcrimper), and just in a few areas instead of your entire head.  Combining some crimp action with your natural hair gives a cool multilayered look.

    Pastel nails
These nail polishes give an opaque, rich finish (similar to matte lipstick).  Try fun shades such as canary, sorbet, mint, or paper white.

    woman dry skin

The holiday season is over (thank god) but the weather is only going to get worse. This time of year could mean dry skin if you don’t take the preventative measures. I have a few tips to help keep your skin as smooth as the eggnog you were chugging a couple weeks ago.

    1. Make sure that your face cleanser is gentle. Bar soap is especially drying to your skin. Whatever facial cleanser you chose to use, be sure it has an added moisturizer. My personal favorite is the Body Shop's seaweed purifying facial cleanser. It feels like you’re washing your face with a lotion.

    2. This second one might be a tad bit obvious but be sure to use a very rich facial moisturizer. Preferably something with Vitamin E and at least an SPF of 15, even in the winter the sun can be very damaging. I promise 10 years from now you’ll be glad you used sun protection everyday. I like anything by Kiehl's because pretty much all of their facial moisturizers contain vitamin E.

    3. This next step might be hard for some of you. You want to consider limiting how often you shower. Every time you shower you wash away essential oils that your body naturally produces. A way to help yourself not look like a homeless person in between washes is dry shampoo. I use CLEAN original.  If you absolutely have to shower everyday keep it short and not too hot. Extremes are never good for your skin.

    4. One of the most important things you can do is help your skin from the inside out. Do this by drinking LOTS of water, eating healthy and exercising. Your skin reflects your lifestyle.

    nail polish

It is said that the practice of women coloring their fingernails originated, like so many other things, in China, about three thousand years B.C. However, at about the same time Egyptian women were also doing the same thing.

But why do women paint their fingernails? Well, looked at from the Chinese historical viewpoint it may be because a woman’s fingernails were one of the few parts of the body which could be seen – at that time, apart from the face and hands, everything was covered up. As a result, the hands, especially the fingers, developed an attractiveness and charm of their own and were expected to be nicely formed, soft and white. And so to make her fingers even more attractive a woman would find a way to paint them.

The early Chinese would use balsam flowers which were ground into a mash and alum added. To obtain the shade required this mash was then applied to the nails, perhaps every day for four or five days, with bright red being the most popular color. The Egyptians used henna to stain their nails, with again red being favored as it was seen as a symbol of the highest social class.

Information is scarce over how women treated their fingernails over the following millennia, but 17th century pictures show that women preferred polished nails to colored nails. Apparently every effort was made to give nails a smooth and shiny look, and this was done with the application of creams and powders followed by buffing and polishing with chamois.

It wasn’t until the early 1920s that colored nail polish as we know it today was introduced. This offered women a huge array of colors to choose from and at affordable prices. So nowadays painted fingernails are so fashionable that it’s unfashionable not to have them.

Time has passed but fashion hasn’t changed much, for even after five thousand years, women still want what the early Chinese wanted – improved attractiveness through nicely shaped and soft hands, with long smooth fingers tapering into elegant painted fingernails.

    dating tips

We spend a lot of time getting ready. Many of us don’t roll out of bed in the morning looking fabulous. Looking fabulous actually takes a bit of work. Men have NO idea the effort, time, and money that goes into looking this great.

But do guys really notice all the small details of our appearance that we put so much into? We spent some time chatting with guys recently (not the worst job in the world, let me tell you!), to find out what they DO and what they DON’T notice.

So the next time you’re getting ready for a hot date, take these notes (straight from the horses’ mouths so to speak), into consideration:

    • Get the Mani, Skip the Pedi – Unless your guy has a foot fetish, he’s not going to spend much time looking at your toenails. A pedicure is one expense you can skip. Men DO notice fingernails, however, so a manicure or even a quick touch-up at home is well worth it.
    • Forget the Bag, Get the Heals – Men couldn’t care less about your handbags, ladies. It’s really only other women and fabulous gay men who pay attention to handbags. So skip buying a new bag for that date and get the shoes. The right pair of heals can make your legs (and ba-donka-donk) look amazing and foot fetish or no, guys love a woman in heals.
    • Wax your Va-Jay-Jay, not your Brows – If you’re planning on an extra special night with your man, splurge and get a Brazilian wax. Don’t spend the time or money on waxing your brows. How many times have you ever hear a man say, “Wow, your eyebrow look amazing?” Tweeze any stray brow hairs and call it a day.
