Sure, you can snap photos of outfits while shopping, upload them to Facebook and ask your friends and family to help you choose. But that’s so tedious and very time consuming! And what if your Facebook friends aren’t the most… how shall we put it… fashion forward folks around? Do you automatically go with the outfits they didn’t like?
The Brazilian clothing store, C&A may have come up with a much easier and time efficient answer – electronic hangers which update with real Facebook “likes” in real time! They call the system “Fashion Like,” and it is currently being tested for their Sao Paulo, Brazil location.
Each article of clothing is posted on the
C&A Facebook page, where visitors are invited to “Like” the items they… well… like (obviously!) The number of “likes” are then displayed on the corresponding item’s hanger in the actual, physical store.
Of course the visitors to the shop’s Facebook page may be top fashionistas or they may be some 10-year-old kid in an internet café just surfing the ‘net, so there’s no accounting for taste or fashion sense.
Even so, C&A may be on to something here…
What do you think? Would you be more or less inclined to buy clothes with a high number of likes? If you do opt for the threads with top numbers, you may be more likely to be caught wearing the same outfit as someone else at a party. Then again… you could go with the least popular items… in the hopes that folks will just find you quirky and mysterious in your clothing choices.
