    Clean your nail; this is the first important step of any good manicure. So scrub your hands and nails till all the dirt and grime is completely gone. Give a proper length and shape. For a classic finish, your nails shouldn't be very long. Medium length with a smooth, oval shape will look perfect. Use cuticle clippers to remove stray hangnails.

    After filing your nails and giving them a perfect shape, it's time for a perfect nail color and design. Paint your entire nail with the base coat colour and let it dry. The petroleum jelly keeps the polish from sticking to your skin if you should slip up while painting. Take special care so that the white polish doesn't come on the lower part of the nail.

    Finish your French manicure by painting the entire nail with a transparent coat of polish. This will help your manicure stay fresh longer by protecting it and it gives a shiny and unified gloss to each nail.

    You can apply an extra layer of top coat on your nails every night to extend the life of your nail color.
