How to dress up in pregnancy and look good

This is a question l even asked myslef when l was pregnant. I hope that now this question is answered! Are you pregnant and receive an invitation for a party, what will you do? Will make an excuse and skip the celebration? No! you should enjoy and even your baby will, so check out some superb ways you can dress up and look gorgeous even when you are expecting.

Just look at these stylish pregnant celebrities, Angelina, Gwen Stefani and Rachel Weisz you could look as good as this!

Stylish pregnant celebrities include;

Rachel Weisz- She continued with her understated simple look right through to the end.

Angelina Jolie- She wore head-to-toe one color so she looked chic and neat whatever the occasion.

Claudia Winkleman- She wore the same dresses, but in bigger sizes than before, and used contemporary T-shirt tops in her favorite colors so that she still looked hip as her tummy grew.

Gwen Stefani- She wasn't afraid to carry on dressing to suit her personality. There was no way Gwen was going to become another pregnant star in baggy clothes.

  • Check out your own wardrobe with a stylist's eye to see what you can utilize through your pregnancy. Sloppy combats, baggy skirts and tracksuit bottoms can all be worn for quite a while yet, and don't be afraid to hang on to your favorites worn with the buttons or zip undone. As long as you have a long enough top and the bottoms are relaxing you'll be able to get away with it.
  • If you have any dresses that are cut on the bias, they'll carry on stretching over your bump and you can be a bit adventurous and wear them over trousers with shorter length cardigans to balance the look. A lot of dresses would get rejected as too short when worn over a bump, so let jeans or leggings make them work. The dresses should be simple, figure-hugging and to the knee.
  • Favorite shirts and tops with buttons can still be worn open, just wear a cotton vest or camisole underneath and undo the buttons for comfort as your boobs grow.
  • When you start to feel the pinch, consider buying a few basics in a size larger than you normally wear. Even if you're determined to snap back into shape once the baby is born, there will be a few weeks afterwards when you'll appreciate a little bit of elasticity in your waistbands and a bit of give over the bust (especially if you're breastfeeding).
  • Dressing according to your body shape.

    • Remember the same rules apply for your body shape when pregnant as they do when you are not. If you have short legs and a large bust, the shape will still dictate your fashion choices even when you have a bump. Pregnancy won't alter the basics.
    • When shopping for maternity wear, always look at clothes your pre-pregnancy size. Your expanding bump will have been accounted for in the design, so you needn't go up a size or two.
    • No two bumps are ever the same shape - even in the same woman. Take a good look at your own bump shape right now. You may have to try on many styles of pregnancy trousers to find some that do up comfortably under or over your bump.
    • For the last third of your pregnancy, your bump is likely to be the biggest bit of you. So don't make the mistake of thinking you should be wearing baggy clothes everywhere else.
    • Avoid looking huge by wearing trousers that fit properly on the thighs and jackets and sweaters with snug sleeves.

    • Avoid adding unnecessary volume with bell sleeves, baggy tops or heavy knits.
    • Invest in a really good pair of pregnancy jeans to see you right through. And take your time choosing them. Your shape might work best with a hidden jersey front or side panel, adjustable button side-panels, extendable waists, or deep stretch waistbands. If you hate the feel of waistbands around your bump, choose below-the-bump and low-rise jeans or trousers.
    • Look for a boot-cut or wider lower leg shape to balance your bump. Narrow leg jeans will make you look horribly out of proportion.
    • Dark denim jeans look smartest. To look taller, and carry the extra weight more effectively, go for the longest jean you can - this will elongate your legs.
    • Your bump is volume and statement enough, so stay clear of anything with flounces, frills or tucks.
    • Choose long, lean lines, or try empire-line dresses teamed with ballet flats for easy pregnancy chic.
    • To slim a large bust, chose deep V-necks or wrap-style tops and dresses.
    • Longer length cardigans in darker colors look great. Pick a style that falls to the knee in a fine knit. This will elongate your shape without adding any bulk. Wear open and loose during the pregnancy, and belted over jeans and a T-shirt once the baby is born for practical yummy mummy appeal.

    Experiment with colors

    • If you like patterns, keep them to areas of your body that are remaining their normal size. Be aware when you look at a garment on a hanger that the pattern will distort as it stretches over your bump, making you look bigger than you actually are.
    • Black and white is great combo to stick to if you are on a budget and always looks chic. Or dress head to toe in the same color as Angelina Jolie did so stylishly throughout her pregnancy.
    • To add a splash of color, look out for colored pregnancy bands. These are loops of stretchy fabric about 15cm wide that you put round your bump to add color.

    • A black color instantly makes your bump look smaller and any color can help hide a gap if tops are beginning to get too short. A foolproof and flattering outfit would combine jeans, ballet pumps, a white T-shirt with a colored band over the top, plus a long-length cardigan.
    • Make the most of your height by wearing lighter colored jackets over darker separates.
    • Consider investing in colored cotton vest dresses - one in white, grey and black. These can be worn underneath favorite tops with a pair of jeans right to the end of your pregnancy.

    Accessories

    • No matter how big you get, you can still enjoy shopping for accessories, and jewelry.
    • Try to stay away from long-length necklaces, which may fall oddly when they hit your bump.
    • Rings can get tight as your fingers swell during the last few months so look for junk jewelry with expandable attachments.
    • Bangles and bracelets are a great investment, but only chose sturdy styles because they'll need to withstand the grabbling of inquisitive little fingers when your baby is born.
    • Headbands have come into their own with every A-list celebrity sporting one this summer. Lindsay Lohan, Katie Holmes, Halle Berry and Cameron Diaz have all found them the hottest new headwear. When worn with plain tops and jeans they can add glamour to a pregnancy outfit with hardly any effort at all.
    • If you're balancing your proportions, that's going to need to include your handbag. If you have a generous bump you'll look unbalanced with a tiny pink tote bag. Big bags are very stylish right now, so chose an oversized slouch bag and wear with confidence. You don't have to fill it right up but once the baby is born it will come into its own.

    Shoes

    • We all love shoes, but stick to round-toe roomy flat boots and flat sleepers.
    • You'll probably be more comfortable in flats throughout the pregnancy, keeping heels for special occasions. But be aware that the bigger you get the wider the heel needs to be. But l think you should wear flats all the way through, it is better for your back.

    Cover up tummy button

As you near the end of your pregnancy you may find your tummy button pops out. If you don't like the look under tight tops, try using some of the plasters they now sell to hide nipples under sheer clothing. Push your tummy button in, shake on some powder and then firmly stick the specially designed plasters in place. They should be strong enough to hold out for a whole day and the powder means it should not hurt too much when you take them off.

So what are you waiting for? Go and shop some gorgeous outfits and enjoy your pregnancy.  Remember if you look good yu will feel good too!
