Latest trends in Eyeshadows

Whenever you pack your makeup kit, never forget your eye make up as highlighting your eyes is the best way for a makeover. Whether its an evening party or business meeting or a normal day, your eyes speak, as the saying goes " the eyes are the window to your soul". With the fast pace of changing trends lets check out some of the latest shades of eyeshadow coming up in the fashion market which gives you a different look.

Royal Blue Eyeshadow: Contrary to popular myth, there actually IS a blue eye shadow for everyone. If you have fair skin or light eyes, choose a powder blue or aqua. For deeper skin tones and eye colors like Rihanna and Beyonce, opt for a sheer indigo or royal blue. Blue eye shadow brings visions of 1950s and thats in fashion!

This gorgeous shade of royal blue eyeshadow pops up all over the place lately, on people of all skin tones. The royal blue looks lovely and majestic on dark, brown skin, and on pale skin it looks bold and beautiful. It gives eyes Smokey effect which is very much in fashion.

Check out this video which shows you how to correctly apply blue shades to make your eyes stand out!

Metallic Green Eyeshadow: Shades of green have replaced the typical browns and charcoals as fall's hottest shadow hue. "Keep the rest of the makeup minimal," says Gregory Arlt M.A.C makeup artist. Kerry Washington exemplifies this rule, letting the kelly green dominate and draw attention to her beautiful eyes. The best way to wear bright eye color? Buy a dual-shadow compact, put the more vivid green on your lids and right above the creases, then blend the lighter shade up to your brows so it forms a soft wash of color. There's an exception to every rule! Matching eye makeup to your outfit is usually overkill, but you have more liberty with metallics-they take on different hues in the light.

Lilac shade: Lilac eyeshadow are some of the most on-trend items for spring 2008, and I have been a fan of them for a while. I completely love how the color makes the copper in my hazel eyes pop. And it seems the celebrities love it just as well! They are easy to wear for both daytime and evening, and they look flattering in a natural way. Check out this lilac palette that can create this season's hottest look.

Metallic Gold shade: One of the hottest makeup trends this summer is glittery gold eyeshadow. Need inspiration on how to get the look? Mix and match shiny copper hues and sparkling champagne colors like Jennifer Hudson and Blake Lively do in this star-studded stylistic photo.

If you read magazines out there, you would realize that they feature eye shadow of every color but there is always one that keeps in style: the gold eyeshadow. Bronzy-gold lids tempered with rich brown shadows add a glamorous touch to neutral makeup. For an imitation of this Smokey eye, just blend gold and brown on your eye lids. Metallic shadows look most natural in cream formulation. Go for brown liner when you're planning to wear gold shadow, they're part of the same color family and blend together more seamlessly.

Plum shade: For bright lids use a cream or vanilla shimmery eye shadow on your lid and brow bone and a deep plum in the crease. Then take an angled brush and apply the plum to your upper and lower lash lines instead of eye liner. And when you want drama for an evening look, darken the plum in the crease and add a black liquid liner on the top lid.

Purple shade: Purple's hues are universally flattering because it has both warm and cool undertones. Enhance any eye color or skin tone by adding lavender shadow to your bottom lash lines. Pair it with black liner on top to enhance the eye. Wet the edge of your eyeshadow brush, then dab it into shadow. Apply the shadow all over your lids, or in your crease to make your eyes pop like no other. Purple is the color of the moment for our eyes.

Light, shimmery purple is perfect for both day and night. Solid, greyish purple color is another good day or night color if you prefer to not look so sparky and more 'proper' and sophisticated. Very strong, shimmery purple, this is serious hardcore purple, so only wear it for parties at night! Purple is especially compliments brown and blue eyes, but it goes for all eye colors so do try it out! Check out Rihanna, Katie Holmes and Ellen Page are getting a jump on spring's pretty pastels with vibrant violet shadow.

Have you always wanted to try bold eye shadow color or is there a color you have never worn? It seems that this is the season to try them. This season's eye makeup has gone totally wild for super color combinations and the effect is really something else.

The key seems to be that the shadows are worn with some deliberate contrasting. The trend is moving away from too much glitter or frosty to something a little more matte. You can achieve this by starting with a matte shadow and then pat on a little bit of shimmer on key areas afterwards.

When considering a color:

1. Look at what you are wearing that day. Matching the colors exactly with your outfit is not the key; you want your eye shadow to pop!

2. Pick a shade that flatters your skin tone rather than being too bold in the wrong way.

3. White accentuates light so they are beautiful on darker skin tones.

4. Dark blue shadow looks amazing with another orange or yellow tint shadow.

5. For more of a contrast, choose a shadow either lighter than or darker than your eye color (i.e. dark blue shadow for light blue eyes).

6. Green eyes become more striking with purples, violets contrasted with rosy shadows.

7. Brown eyes can be accentuated by copper, bronze or gold shadows; contrasted with some green.

Have fun creating these looks for the parties!
