Let’s be honest here… we don’t all wash our hair daily. And honestly, with my long locks, they wouldn’t be very happy if I submitted them to the special torture of washing and drying every day.
Between washings, my hair does get a bit… meh. Those are the days you can spot me out and about with a ponytail, tight side buns (ala Princess Leia), or some other crafty up-do that makes sure no one notices I haven’t washed my hair that day. Thank goodness for bobby pins!
Frederic Fekkai has the solution. Their Wash & Wear Spray Shampoo allows folks to simply spray their hair to help keep it clean between shampooing. It’s different from the other dry shampoos on the market in that the first three ingredients are water, witch hazel, and alcohol (rather than cornstarch in some other brands).
Other Popular Dry Shampoos include Algemarin Shampoo Dry Powder Spray, Batiste Dry Shampoo, TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo (my personal favorite if only because of the name), Klorane Shampoo Dry, Samy Shampoo Dry Spray, Rene Futerer Naturia Dry Shampoo, Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo Spray, and Finley Hair Powder Brown.
The powder / cornstarch-based dry shampoos work a bit differently than the Frederic Fekkai version, however. With the majority of other brands, you either spray or sprinkle the powder onto your hair. You brush it through your locks and it supposedly helps to absorb and rid your hair of excess oils.
Some of the dry shampoos may leave a slight residue on your hair or leave it feeling a bit sticky or slimy. The key is to find a brand and formula that is specifically made for your hair type. Obviously what works well on thin, straight blonde hair isn’t going to work as well on luscious thick and curly locks.
