Putting the drama and commotion from earlier in the month behind them, Kate Middleton and Prince William spent Christmas day at Kate’s family home in Bucklebury, England. The couple was spotted at Saint James church in nearby Englefield yesterday, along with Kate’s parents, brother James, and sister Pipa.
The Duchess of Cambridge covered her much talked about baby bump with an understated burgundy jacket topped with a classic red scarf. The always-stylish princess looked fresh despite reports she had been suffering from severe morning sickness.
Middleton had been hospitalized earlier this month with hyperemesis gravidarum, an intense form of morning sickness that many doctors report may last for the duration of her pregnancy.
In addition to the uncontrolled vomiting, Kate was on the receiving end of a radio show prank in which two Australian talk show hosts pretended to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Albert. A nurse taking care of Kate during her hospitalization put the prank call through believing that the Queen wanted to talk to the sick princess.
In a very dramatic twist, the duped nurse was found dead in her apartment, apparently having committed suicide because of the shame and embarrassment the incident caused.
Meanwhile, the real Queen Elizabeth II along with most of the royal family spent Christmas day at Sandringham House, a royal estate located in Norfolk, England. Reportedly in attendance were Prince Charles with his wife Camilla, along with William’s cousins Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
Prince William and Kate were not the only members of the family to miss the Queen’s annual Christmas get-together - Prince Harry, a helicopter pilot for the British Air Corps was away on mission in Afghanistan along with 4,000 British troops.
