Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba teaming up with Michael Winterbottom for "The Killer Inside Me," a thriller based on Jim Thompson's classic noir novel. Affleck will play Lou Ford, a West Texas sheriff who seems to be an ordinary guy, if somewhat boring, dumb, and lazy. However, he's slowly revealed to be a disturbed man, paranoid and sociopath, with a penchant for murder. If you've seen Affleck's Oscar-nominated turn in "The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford," you'll know how scary and unsettling he can be. Alba plays a prostitute, thus ensuring most red-blooded males buy a ticket.
This is one of those rare films that seems to have everything going for it. The novel was made into a 1976 film starring Stacy Keach. Oklahoma-based Indion Entertainment Group is financing, as is Barbarian Films and Oceania Media Finance. Wild Bunch is handling worldwide sales. Starting date is planned to be mid-January. Alba most recently appeared in "The Love Guru" and Affleck most recently starred in "Gone Baby Gone".
