Dakota Fanning made her way into movies and hearts over the last ten years as the sweetfaced blonde who seemed at once very young and very old for her age.

This week on her joint instagram account with her sister Elle, @thefannings (she released a photo of her famous blonde locks gone brunette!  

The color is both warm and understated, a nice peanut-butter-chocolate, not too harsh against her pale skin and light eyes. Although it’s not as eye catching as her previous bright blonde tresses, it’s far from drab. Who wants to accentuate the downer tones of winter?

Although most of us still think of Fanning as that cute little girl from some of your favorite movies, like many child actors she’s grown up quickly - already 19 years old, the starlet has recently begun her college studies at New York University. Wasn’t she about 10, like, yesterday?

We all went through tons of changes and experimentation during our late teens and early twenties, and it looks like Fanning is no exception. And judging by her shrewd choice of haircolor and her new adventure in college, its looks like the star is navigating what can be a bumpy time with the grace and maturity that has been surprising and captivating the public since her earliest performances.

Plus, with autumn in the hair, it’s common to opt for darker tresses. Once we get past the winter, you start seeing the highlights appear once more.

CAMERON Diaz has revealed that the short hair she debuted in January was not only an accident but that the cut led her to "burst into tears."

"There was a little misunderstanding," she explained on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno of her pre-Christmas cut. "I said, ‘Oh I just want a little bit off' ... and it went from here to here," she added, gesturing two very different hair lengths. Once Diaz saw the new do, her reaction wasn't so pleasant. "I just burst into tears and started crying, and I felt so vulnerable," she explained. "For a woman to all of a sudden have no hair, oh my god."

Diaz revealed that the incident happened when she went to a friend's house for a haircut just before the holidays. She says the friend has been cutting her hair for ages. "I felt really bad, she felt really bad, she started crying, I started crying, a couple of other people started crying," Diaz said. But soon the situation smoothed over. "I ended up writing her a few emails after, the next couple days, assuring her I wasn't going to kill her."

As Leno pointed out, it's unique that Diaz gets her haircuts from a friend (in that friend's kitchen, no less) - not at a chic Los Angeles salon. But the actress said she's been getting kitchen haircuts from this friend - and her own mother - for quite some time. She joked, "I'm in her kitchen often with the cape around my neck, going, ‘I hope we're not going to cook after that.'"

Method to use olive oil for silky shiny hair.

Heat half a cup of olive oil. The oil shouldn't be too hot or you will burn your fingers. Just heat the oil you can comfortably touch.

Cover your shoulders with a towel to avoid staining your clothes.

Take a little oil in your palms and massage it into your hair. Massage with your fingertips and not your nails.If you have a dry, itchy scalp massage the scalp, however, if you have an oily scalp then avoid applying oil your scalp. Leave an inch and a half from the roots unoiled and properly massage rest of your hair. Massaging with the fingertips also stimulates the hair follicles. This also propagates hair growth.

Pile your hair on the top and cover it completely with a shower cap or plastic wrap. This helps the oil to penetrate deeply. You can also wrap your hair with a warm towel.

Wash your hair with a mild shampoo after keeping oil on your hair for at least half an hour.

Eva Longoria is well known especially as the sexy Gabrielle Solis in the hit TV series Desperate Housewives. Longoria is also known for her high profile relationship with NBA guard Tony Parker, whom she married in 2007.
