X-Men, most famous series of superhero films has again hit the theatre on 3rd June. What do you think Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman be able to do justice to this series of X-Men? 'Kick-Ass' turned out to be a terrific piece of superhero cinema - different and unusual to say the least; and with some killer performances to boot. It is a prequel focusing on "the formative years of Xavier and Magneto, and the formation of the school and where their relationship took a wrong turn.

Before the release of the movie lots of rumours flooded all over about an unmitigated mess - the plot and the characters. Proving every one wrong, 'X-Men: First Class' came up with an amazing response. It is terrific, fantastic and simply brilliant. It falls just short of brilliance due to some problems in the final act and yet even that does not stop it from entering itself proudly into the annals of the superhero genre as a bloody classic.

I might as well go the whole hog: 'X-Men: First Class' is the best X-Men film yet. It's better than Singer's earnest but muddled adaptation; it's better than Ratner's hot mess.

Oh 'X-Men', let me count the ways how I love thee:

'X-Men: First Class' allows us to see how the X-Men group was formed: we understand more of the relationship between Magneto and Professor X - it makes much more sense now that these two man who are mortal enemies are also strong friends; that their bond is something much more different than a simple, antagonistic relationship. The introduction of 'Mystique' as a multi-dimensional character takes her from the sidelines and makes her fantastically three dimensional.

The direction is extraordinarily tight - Matthew Vaughn allows the characters to develop without ever losing the momentum needed for a film like this. What are you waiting for? Go and enjoy the other superhero films this summer.
