Gotham Independent Film Awards are something that every celebrity dreams about, something to add to their belt. The IFP - Independent Film project announced the nominees for the 18th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards on Monday. Guess who are the lucky ones? The most interesting name from the list is none other than Anne Hathaway, 25, who has not been lucky personally but professionally she is very successful. Other important nominees are Woody Allen's film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona for its ensemble performance including Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz.
The ceremony will take place on December 2 at New York City's Cipriani Wall Street. "2008 has proven to be an extremely strong year for an immensely diverse group of filmmakers tackling a range of subjects and forms in new and dynamic ways," Executive Director Michelle Byrd said.

Six films received two nominations. A total of 22 films received nominations in six categories. New this year, the recipient of the Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You will receive a cash award of $15,000 provided by Artists Public Domain. This year's nominees for breakout actor, include Rosemary DeWitt (Rachel Getting Married), Rebecca Hall (Vicki Cristina Barcelona) and Melissa Leo (Frozen River).
