Who Wore What at the Oscars
By : Rose Blanton
The Oscars were a great success in more ways than one. Many wonderful artists were honored for all the hard work they’ve done this year. Amongst all the excitement there is one aspect that stands above the rest for me. Fashion. Instead of breaking down who took home a little gold man I’m going to reveal the labels that were on people’s backs.
Let’s start with Jennifer Lawrence who wore a voluminous blush colored strapless gown by Dior Haute Couture. She paired the impressive frock with Chopard jewels and a Roger Vivier clutch.
Jessica Chastain’s jewelry was almost more impressive than her gown. She donned Harry Winston jewels and wore a custom Giorgio Armani dress.
One of my favorites of the night was Anne Hathaway. She was perfection in Prada pink. The back was intricate and delicate and the color truly highlighted the luscious deep brown color of her hair. She also wore Tiffany & Co. jewels.
Charlize Theron also wore Dior Haute Couture. Her strapless, white peplum style gown was beautiful and she also chose to pair it with the king of Diamonds, Harry Winston.
Amanda Seyfried paid tribute to the late Alexander McQueen in a lavender dream. The dress was accented with silver brocade leaves. For her pitch perfect ears she chose Lorraine Schwartz.
Two ladies who were not among my favorites were Kerry Washington and Jennifer Garner. Kerry was in a bright coral Miu Miu that was top heavy with jewels and a little ill fitted round the middle. Garner was in a purple Gucci Premier that made her look like a cross between a peacock and a flamenco dancer. Sorry ladies, better luck next year.
Naomi Watts chose a custom beaded Giorgio Armani that was reminiscent of a work of art. I enjoyed the uniqueness of the piece.
Usually I’m not a fan of Versace but Halle Berry rocked it so hard in a striped, long sleeved gown with shoulders sharp enough to cut.
These aren’t all the dames from the award show but these are the ones that shone the brightest for me.
