    Britney Spears Trial

About four years ago, in 2008, the mega popstar Britney Spears had her famous mental breakdown, in which she was forcibly hospitalized and then under treatment and therapy for months.

It was during that time that two important men in her life, father Jaime Spears and former pal and manager Sam Lutfi, went head to head to control and/or protect the millionaire songstress during her time of weakness and vulnerability.

Now, they will face off again, but this time in the court of law. Lutfi is suing Jaime Spears for battery on the night of the singer’s hospitalization, claiming that the Spear’s father, “barged into the house, lunged at [him] with fists balled, and chased [him] around the kitchen island.”

That night Jaime was reportedly kicked out of the house by Britney’s security, but he returned the next morning. Lutfi testified that "[Jaime] came in, started yelling at me, accusing me that I was abusing his wife [Lynne], cornered me in the kitchen, punched me in the [chest] and threatened to kill me.”

Lutfi is also suing Lynne Spears for libel, as she accuses him in her 2088 memoir of having drugged her daughter Britney. He claims that this lead to a “huge spike” in the number of death threats he received (how many was he getting before?!) and caused him to be “anxious, depressed, and suicidal.”

However, the defense attorney claims that Jaime did not strike Lutfi and that getting control of his daughter was a “question of life or death.”

He pointed to Lutfi’s past of harassment, including FOUR separate restraining orders against him.  Two men alleged that Lutfi harassed them via cellphone and texts, while another claimed that Lutfi gained access to his email and other social media accounts in order to send abusive messages to his family.

On top of all of this, Lutfi is mounting a suit against Spears herself, claiming she owes him hundreds of thousands of dollars in managers fees.

The battery trial is slated to last about two weeks.  Sounds like a whole lotta crazy!
