Emmy award show is full of fun and laughs and all thanks to Glee's Jane Lynch, an early winner at Sunday's ceremony. In a shout-out to the ensemble cast, the show's Sue Sylvester joked, "I love you. You're young and you're wonderful. You're fresh-faced, and when I'm not seething with jealousy, I'm so proud of you."
Glee had 19 nominations to beat at the Emmys, but fellow freshman series Modern Family, with 14 nominations, won early awards, including outstanding supporting actor in a comedy for Eric Stonestreet, who plays the loveable Cameron Tucker.
"All I wanted to be was a clown in the circus when I was a kid growing up," the first-time winner, who called the gig "the most amazing job ever," said onstage.
Other early winners: Edie Falco, who claimed outstanding actress in a comedy for Nurse Jackie and Jim Parsons, who won outstanding actor in a comedy for The Big Bang Theory.
The Emmy host also recruited an A-list team - including some of the Glee cast, Tina Fey, Gosselin, Jon Hamm and Betty White - to kick off the live telecast with a musical bang.Gosselin, who famously earned low marks on DWTS, poked fun at herself, teasing with Fallon and his crew, "I can help [with the performance]; I'm a great dancer."
So Emmy award evening was a complete rocking this year.
