It's summer, and everyone wants to escape the heat, right? If you're
going to do that on a date with someone special, there's nothing like
the rush, romantic tingle or fright-fest found in your local movie
theater. Whether it's your first date or one in string of many that has
held your relationship together for years, this summer should have
something to make your night special.
This is the End
- Coming to theaters June 12th, this end of the world disaster flick
stars, well, stars. Imagine if the world were really ending and you had
an inside view into the people, particularly those who make you laugh,
as they try to navigate their way through the apocalypse. That's the
essential premise of this comedy which stars Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill and
James Franco among a cast of so many other familiar faces you'll simply
lose count. Laughter is the best medicine, for the end of the world and
to keep you and your date abuzz all night long.
Man of Steel - We've all seen some version
of Superman, right? In theaters June 14th, hunky Henry Cavill takes
over the precious red cape with Amy Adams as his Lois Lane. Man of Steel
should have everything - action, adventure, romance and thrilling
special effects. This summer is extremely light on romance, so we're
looking to Clark and Lois to fill the void. Casting Kevin Costner and
Diane Lane and Jonathan and Martha Kent shouldn't take us far from the
romantic realm and raises the expectations for the Kent family to play
an important role in Clark's development into Superman. Heart pounding,
sexy and thrilling entertainment for your big date.
World War Z - Zombie and Brad Pitt, based on a best selling book by Max Brooks this movie about the Zombie War opens on June 21. If The Walking Dead
is any indication, zombies are kind of in right now. The apocalypse is
another big winner with kids these days so the odds are you and your
date are going to love it. Males and females around the globe love
everything about the subject matter and the star, so there is no reason
you won't feel like snuggles during and after the viewing of this summer
release.
White House Down - Hey! It's
another action adventure flick because it's summertime! Again we're
dealing with subject matter and stars that seem to appeal to the basic
instincts of both men and women. Opening on June 28th, White House Down
stars Channing Tatum as a loving father in the wrong place at the right
time to protect President of the United States Jamie Foxx. Just in time
for the July 4th holiday this movie will appeal to your patriotism,
your sense of adventure and your desire to protect and serve your
country and family. Did I mention Channing Tatum? You and your date will
not stray far from each other's arms after spending two hours watching
him fight for freedom.
The Wolverine - Mixing it up with the X-Men franchise and starring the man who appears to have everything, Hugh Jackman, The Wolverine
opens in theaters July 26th. Without a doubt one of the most successful
comic franchises in the universe, one of it's most successful
characters is embodied by one of the most adored men on the planet. He's
joined by Jessica Biel. All we can be certain of is that Hugh Jackman
gets the juices of all genders flowing in space he inhabits, and that's
ideal for date night. That's a theory you have to test for yourself and
get back to me.
It appears the days of the romantic comedies are
gone. Date night is going to have to rely more on the stars and the
material and what you're willing to make out of what your given. Or, how
quickly you're willing to make out when the movie is over. One, two or
maybe all of these movies will give you inspiration to turn a normal
date into a stupendous one. Which will it be?
